Val is a pharmacist and worked for 38 years in the NHS; almost 30 years of this was in leadership and management roles at a senior level, with small to large teams, across professions and within different organisations. She is now an Independent Consultant, using her skills to mentor, advise, facilitate, train and review services.
Her extensive experience includes posts as a Chief Pharmacist in Acute and Mental Health Trusts, a Director role with the Specialist Pharmacy Services in Community Health and in Primary Care. Having a portfolio career across many sectors of pharmacy practice has provided her with a good understanding of how the profession is interlinked and how to use her competencies to their greatest benefit. She believes the skills of everyone should be respected and fully utilised to create a high performing team.
Val mentors several pharmacists on the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Mentoring Scheme, returning something back to the profession and helping others realise their strengths and career ambitions.
